Probably the best kept secret in suburban Chicago!  The Fox River Trail runs from Oswego to Algonquin before it turns into the Mc Henry County Prairie Trail and continues on to the Wisconsin State Line.  The trail stays close to the river as it passes through the "Fox Valley" cities (don't call them suburbs!) of Oswego, Montgomery, Aurora, North Aurora, Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles, South Elgin, Elgin, East Dundee, Carpentersville, and Algonquin.  Sometimes the trail runs on the east bank, sometimes on the west bank, sometimes both, while a few times it detours onto street bike lanes.  No matter where the trail runs, it's always scenic!
